2010 - "The Word Became Flesh"
|
The theme for the 2010 Steubenville Youth Conferences is "The Word Became Flesh".
This summer we will be celebrating the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. What an amazing thing it is to contemplate the love of Jesus and how He willingly gave up His throne in heaven in order to become a man. He did this even though He knew He would be rejected, scourged, and crucified by the very people He came to save.
Why would God do this for us? The Catechism gives us for reasons for the incarnation. They are:
- Jesus came to save us by reconciling us with God.
- Jesus came that we might know God's love.
- Jesus came to be our model of holiness.
- Jesus came to be our model of holiness.
- Jesus came to make us "partakers of the divine nature"
This summer we will celebrate our God who came not to give just a moral code or just an instructional manual on how to live, but a God who gave His only begotten Son. We will celebrate our God who became like us that we might become like Him. Jesus has done it all. He reveals the love of God, the Father, He paid the price for our sins, He shows us how to live, and He sends us the Holy Spirit that we might be filled with the very life of God.
It does not matter where you go to a conference this summer. What matters is who, who you will encounter. It is Jesus. With arms wide open, He calls each of us to His precious heart and welcomes us home. With arms open wide, He dies upon the cross to free us from death and sin. With arms open wide, He gives Himself to the world in love. With arms open wide, He sends forth the Holy Spirit that we may be renewed and transformed.
We look forward to welcoming you to one of our Steubenville North conferences this summer. It is our tremendous pleasure to partner with the Franciscan University of Steubenville to bring you these events. Together, we set the stage for God to do miracles.
See you this summer!
