VOLUNTEER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What are the requirements to volunteer for the Steubenville North Catholic Youth Conference?

      Every volunteer must:

    • Read and agree to abide by the Volunteer Policies, Modesty Policies, and Code of Conduct. (Documents included in this mailing)
    • Each volunteer must complete Boundary Training
    • Each volunteer must have a Background Check including criminal history.
    • Submit Volunteer Form to Partnership for Youth by June 14th.

  • Why is a weekend long commitment required?

Past experience has shown that having several volunteers working in small shifts does not make for an effective and cohesive conference. A weekend-long commitment will allow everyone at the conference to fully experience all it has to offer. Volunteers are an integral part of the conference, and having the same volunteers all weekend long will help everything run more smoothly while also providing strong spiritual benefits for the volunteers involved. Volunteers will have down time over the weekend, as we do not intend to work you for 72 hours straight!

  • Does every volunteer have to complete a Background Screening Check?

Every volunteer for the Steubenville North Catholic Youth Conference must complete a Background Check. This check includes a criminal check, Social Security check and sex offender check, and therefore requires the individual's Social Security number, date of birth, and other information. Background Checks cost $17. The required Background Checks last five years and are therefore not required yearly by Partnership for Youth.

  • Who sees the results of the background checks? What if I do not pass the check?

An outside company will perform all background checks. The result will either be a "clear" (meaning the individual has passed) of "hit" (meaning the individual has not passed the check). An individual will be notified if they receive a "hit" and will then have the opportunity to further discuss the results with the investigating company if they so choose to disclose the information.

  • Can I choose the area in which I would like to work?

You may indicate your area of preference; however Partnership for Youth will make all volunteer assignments.   Partnership for Youth reserves the right to change work assignments and/or ask any individual to not serve if necessary.

  • Will I be able to volunteer if I sign up the weekend of the conference?

Due to the new policies of background checks, required Boundary Training and Volunteer training we will not be able to accept on-site or walk-in volunteers.   Background checks take several days to process and cannot be done on-site the weekend of the event.

  • Where will the volunteer be housed?

Volunteer housing will be available Friday and Saturday night on the South Campus of the University of St. Thomas, a short walk from where all the events of the weekend take place.

  • What is the cost of housing for the weekend?

Volunteer housing is available on Friday and Saturday night.   Dorm rooms are $20.00 per person per night.   (This is non-refundable.)   Rooms are double occupancy.   Please provide your own linens
(twin beds).

  • What about meals during the conference?

Our volunteer hospitality coordinator arranges and prepares for all your meals and snacks the weekend of the conference.   You will be served in the hospitality area located on the lower floor of the John Vianney Seminary.

  • Do I need to wear my volunteer t-shirt whenever volunteering?

Yes, we ask that you wear your volunteer t-shirt whenever you are volunteering.   This will make it easy for participants to locate you to ask questions.   This will also make it easier for the coordinator of your ministry to quickly find you in the crowd.

  • Do I need to wear my wristband all weekend?

Yes, please wear your wristband at all times during the weekend.   Your wristband will give you access to the areas you need to be in to complete your volunteer work.

"Trust in the Lord forever! For the Lord is an eternal Rock." Isaiah 26:4
